There are many office situations that require a thank you note for coworkers. Throwing a party, stepping up at a meeting, and working above and beyond are all reasons for a coworker thank you note. There are some rules you should follow, however, when writing a thank you note for coworkers in your life.

From Quick Guide: Giving Thanks with a Note
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Generic thank you card stock
  • Black pen
  1. Step 1

Decide how many thank you notes for coworkers you need. If more than one person helped with a project, you will need multiple thank you notes. Do not address one thank you note to multiple people, as this is considered tacky.

  2. Step 2

Open the card and write the person's name at the top followed by a comma. The inside should be written in black pen as this looks professional. Under the name, begin a short note about how grateful you are for the service or help that was provided. For example: "Thank you so much for completing the service graphs for our meeting on Friday. You are a lifesaver. I don't know what I would have done without you."

  3. Step 3

When you have finished your short, three to four sentence thank you note for coworkers, sign your name below. There is no need for a closing like "Sincerely" or "From." A signature will do.

  4. Step 4

Deliver your thank you note for coworkers personally. Don't address an envelope. If you work with the individual, you see them often. A hand-delivered note is much more polite.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some people send thank you notes for thank you notes. Don't do this. It could turn into an endless game.
  • Don't forget anyone in your thank you note. If you are thanking a committee, be sure to thank every member.
