Pass the LEED Exam
Pass the LEED Exam

All you need to pass the USGBC LEED exam

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • LEED Reference Guide supplied by the USGBC
  1. Step 1

    Study Tools:
    - LEED Reference Guide
    - USGBC website
    - www.greenexamprep.com
    - Colorado Study Guide

  2. Step 2

Read through the Reference Guide, then start to memorize the prerequisites, credits & points

  3. Step 3

After knowing basic requirements, start taking practice tests. Go through the questions and refer back to the reference guide when needed to start absorbing the knowledge.

  4. Step 4

The Colorado Study practice test can be downloaded offline for free and I would strongly suggest joining the www.greenexamprep.com website, it has over 240 sample questions and a test simulator which is in the same format as the actual test.

  5. Step 5

Before you take the actual test:
    - Know all intents, requirements and strategies
    - Know all referenced standards
    - Know all percentages required to achieve each credit
    - Understand the Approach and Implementation noted after each credit
    - Know how credits are interrelated - synergies between credits

  6. Step 6

    Tips:
    - Understand Fee Structure
    - Understand Credit Interpretation Requests and Ruling Process
    - Understand differences between Fundamental Comissioning and Enhanced
    - Know difference between Innovation of Design and Exemplary Performance

on 9/7/2008 Another great study tool for LEED is Everblue Energy at http://www.everblueenergy.com/leedtestprep.html. I took one of their LEED seminars and they showed me exactly what I needed to know and what I didn't have to worry about.
