Wonder how you can "see" while swimming if you normally wear prescription glasses or contacts?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

You need a non-expired glasses prescription. If your glasses prescription is expired, then get an eye exmanation for a valid prescription. If you go in for an eye examination, tell your eye doctor you are interested in prescription swim goggles.

  2. Step 2

Some swim goggles can be made with near sighted or far sighted prescription. Most vision clinics and/or opticals can order these for you with current spectacle prescription. Unfortunately these prescription goggles can not be made with astigmatism correction. But if your astigmatism amount is low to moderate (-0.25 to -2.00) you can get a "spherical equivalent" prescription lens made for the goggles. Spherical equivalent prescription will not give you perfect vision but will be adequate enough for swimming and water sports.

  3. Step 3

Contact lenses are not recommended for swimming whether it's chlorinated pool water, lakes, ocean or streams. Micro organisms in the water can be absorbed by the contact lens and cause serious eye infections as a result. If you accidentally or intentionally swim with soft contact lenses in, then you need to discard that lens after swimming to prevent eye infections. Do not wear that same contact lens again after swimming with them in.
