Keep Cupcakes From Falling
Keep Cupcakes From Falling

Have you tried everything and your cupcakes are still falling? This could be the result of expired ingredients, over mixing the batter, impatience, or under baking. Use these simple techniques to keep your cupcakes from falling.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cupcake batter
  • Cupcake pan
  • Hot oven
  1. Step 1

Make sure your ingredients are fresh. If your raising agent (baking soda, baking powder, corn starch, etc.) is too old, it will no longer work properly. Also, if your recipe calls for baking soda make sure you don't use baking powder by mistake, and vice versa.

  2. Step 2

Mix the cupcake batter as your recipe instructs, but be careful not to over mix. Only mix until the batter is smooth, or your cupcakes may fall.

  3. Step 3

Don't open the oven door too often once you've placed the cupcakes inside. Only check them once or twice, as necessary. If you continue to open the oven door and let cooler air in, your cupcakes will continue to fall.

  4. Step 4

Make sure you bake the cupcakes thoroughly to prevent falling. If you don't bake them long enough, they will fall when you take them out. Turn the pan in the oven halfway through the baking time, to ensure the batter cooks evenly.

  5. Step 5

Test the cupcakes before removing from the oven by inserting a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, they're most assuredly done and shouldn't fall when removed - as long as you've used fresh, correct ingredients.
