Things You'll Need:
- Soft brush for bathing
- Oatmeal dog shampoo
- Small bowl for rinsing
- Towel for drying
-
Step 1
First thing you will need to do is get their bath water ready. make sure it's not too hot or cold, because you don't want to burn the poor thing.
-
Step 2
Next you will need to have these supplies handy; a towel (for drying), oatmeal dog shampoo(make sure you use oatmeal soap, because Bichon's have sensitive skin), a soft brush for bathing, and a small bowl for rinsing.
-
Step 3
Gently place the Bichon in the lukewarm water. make sure the water only come up to the dog's chest.
-
Step 4
Gently place the Bichon in the lukewarm water. make sure the water only come up to the dog's chest.
-
Step 5
Comfort the Bichon by talking to them, and confirming that this will all be over soon.
-
Step 6
Take your bowl and gently cover the dog with water(make sure to cover their eyes).
-
Step 7
Take your brush and place soap on the bristles.
As you begin to wash the dog, scrub gently in circular motions. Concentrate on the facial because that is what seems to collect the most dirt and stains, and make sure you clean their ears out, but be careful, because Bichons have sensitive ears. -
Step 8
Scrub your Bichon all over their body for about 3-4 minutes. When you are done, take the bowl and gently rinse. The dog may try to squirm or fight you, but firmly hold them still so they won't slip or get hurt.
-
Step 9
First dry the head while their body is still in the water. This will make life easier for you as you grab them out of the tub.
-
Step 10
The final process is to dry the body. By this point, you Bichon will want to dry themselves, but make sure you get as much excess off as possible. At this point it is safe to let them run around the house and do their normal routine. See my other article for combing and blowing your Bichon Frise
