The Polaris Ranger is a side-by-side seating all terrain vehicle or ATV. A new category of vehicles was created for the Polaris Ranger and it is now considered a Sport Recreational Utility Vehicle or SRUV. The Polaris Ranger is one of the safest 4-wheel ATVs available. Changing the tires on a Polaris Ranger takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Set the parking break. This keeps the Ranger from rolling as you change the tire.

  2. Step 2

Loosen the lug nuts. Do not take them completely off. Loosen them enough so you can turn the lug nuts with your hands. Rangers have four lug nuts per tire. Start at one side of the tire and then loosen the other side. Finally, loosen the top and bottom lug nuts.

  3. Step 3

Place the car jack under the axle of the vehicle, beside the tire.

  4. Step 4

Turn the jack to raise the vehicle until the tire is 2 to 3 inches off the ground.

  5. Step 5

Remove the lug nuts in the same pattern you loosened them in Step 2.

  6. Step 6

Remove the tire from the axle.

  7. Step 7

Line up the bolts with the holes in the tire. Place a new or spare tire on the Polaris Ranger.

  8. Step 8

Tighten the lug nuts onto the bolts with the tire iron, alternating side, top, bottom, and side. Lower the car jack and slide it out from under the vehicle.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you change a tire on the side of a road, put out road cones for safety.
