How to Replace a Truck Bug Shield

Your truck bug shield is cracked and you must replace it. Get yourself psyched up, because you are going to take off an old, ugly piece of plastic and improve the look of your car as you do it.

      Remove the old bug shield from the vehicle. Eliminate any old glue and scratches in the paint.

      Buy a new bug shield to fit your specific truck. When you buy the new bug shield, read the paperwork to be sure you replace the old bug shield with the right one for your vehicle.

      Insure the hood area is clean and grease free. Remove the tape and place the bug shield in the chosen area. Follow up with rubber tips that stop the bug shield from irritating the paint job.

      Install the new bug shield in the evening so that the glue strip can set over a period of several hours before you take the truck out on the road the next day.
