How to Make a Foam Turkey Caddy

Add to your Thanksgiving festivities when you create a turkey caddy for your child's craft table. This project is easy and inexpensive to make. Place the caddy in the center of a table that is covered with butcher paper and let the kids doodle while they wait for their turkey dinner to arrive.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large Styrofoam ball
  • Serrated bread knife
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Foam paintbrush
  • Card stock
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue, hot glue or glue dots
  • Markers, colored pencils or crayons
  • Newspaper
  1. Step 1

    Saw the Styrofoam ball in half with a serrated bread knife.

  2. Step 2

    Cover your work surface with newspaper of butcher paper. Paint the rounded portion of the foam ball with brown acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry for several hours.

  3. Step 3

    Cut a large peanut shape out of heavy brown card stock. Place two googly eyes on the top part of the peanut for eyes. Cut a beak out of yellow card stock and a wattle our of red card stock. Attach the beak and wattle with craft glue.

  4. Step 4

    Glue the turkey head to the front of the foam caddy with craft glue. Use glue dots or a hot glue gun for immediate adhesion.

  5. Step 5

    Gather markers, colored pencils or crayons. Press each marker into the foam ball approximately one inch. Leave the markers in the foam to make the feathers of the turkey.

  6. Step 6

    Store the markers in the Thanksgiving turkey caddy all through November.
