Continental Kennel Club, or CKC, sponsors dog events throughout the country throughout the year. Each one of these events has a dog show with a confirmation event and sometimes a weight pull, obedience or agility event that needs to be judged. In most cases, the show judge will receive pay for judging the event in addition to a stipend for travel, lodging and meal expenses.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick an event that you want to judge. CKC sponsors a large number of events including weight pull, conformation, hunting events, obedience and agility. Each event is then subdivided into age and/or breed categories.

  2. Step 2

Compile a resume that includes all of your experience with the event you want to judge. Be sure to include all of your experience with dogs, even the things you did with your dog when you were young. CKC takes all experience into consideration when accepting new judges.

  3. Step 3

Contact CKC via their website (see Resources). A representative from CKC will call you and send you an application to fill out via email.

  4. Step 4

Fill out the application and send it to CKC via email. Include your resume in the email, either as an attachment or in the body of the email below the application.

  5. Step 5

Print a copy of the application and your resume. Mail these to CKC. If you are accepted as a show judge, they will ask you for a copy of these anyway.

  6. Step 6

Be ready for training. You will have to take a test that pertains to the show event and/or breed that you are applying to judge. Once you take the test, you will have to judge an event under the supervision of a senior judge.
