Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pine cones
  • Tin foil
  • Cookie sheet
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard
  • Hot glue
  • Extras (dried leaves, flowers, pine needles, acorns)
  • Photo
  • Tape (optional)
  • Glitter paint (optional)
  • Ribbon (optional)
  1. Step 1

Bake your pine cones on a foil covered cookie sheet for 45 minutes at 200 degrees. This will dry the cones, allow any seeds to drop out and kill spider mites or other small bugs that might be living inside.

  2. Step 2

Cut a piece of cardboard about 3 by 5 inches and hot glue the bottom of one large pine cone to the center of the cardboard. Glue smaller pine cones, dried leaves or flowers, twigs, pine needles or acorns onto the cardboard base for decoration.

  3. Step 3

Place a photo between some of the prongs near the top of the pine cone. Experiment until you find a position in which the photo stands up straight. Add a drop of glue or piece of tape to the back to keep it in place.

  4. Step 4

Add finishing touches. You might dust the tips of the pine coin with glitter paints, glue a piece of ribbon to the outer edges of the cardboard base or add a second, smaller photo to the cone.
