If your home, office, car or anywhere else you frequent reeks of cigarettes, you can remove the offensive odor. Bamboo charcoal is the remedy. Bamboo charcoal eliminates odors by extracting humidity from the air and changing this moisture into negative ions that reverse stale air in indoor settings. You can find this charcoal in health stores or specialty supermarkets.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place the bamboo charcoal in the area affected by smoke. The charcoal should begin to absorb the odor immediately, although it may take a few days to notice its effects.

  2. Step 2

Place the bamboo charcoal outside in the sun for a few hours once a week. This allows the impurities the charcoal attracted to escape, so you can reuse the charcoal repeatedly.

  3. Step 3

Try this method for cleaning smoky walls. Soak bamboo charcoal in water for two days. Remove the charcoal, and wash the walls using the leftover water. The water should maintain some of the cleansing properties of the bamboo charcoal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bamboo charcoal also takes impurities out of drinking water, purifies fish tanks, absorbs chemicals such as formaldehyde and ammonia and disperses electromagnetic waves.
