A dragon is a creature steeped in mythological lore and can be a fun subject to draw. There can be a lot of detail in each part of the dragon, including the wings. Here's how to draw dragon wings.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find pictures to use as guides for the kind of wings you'll draw. You can have varying levels of size, detail and position. Use pictures of dragons drawn or created by others.

  2. Step 2

With the pictures you found as a model sketch the outline of the wings. Make a slightly curved line for the skeletal bones in each wing–about five including the outer and inner edge of each. Each line must be barely longer than the previous.

  3. Step 3

Bend the wings by making a joint that would be like an elbow. This gives you 10 lines for each wing. Each is slightly longer than the one before it and all are at a downward angle.

  4. Step 4

Connect each of the bones by making a pointed tip at the body of the dragon. Draw the line after the joint at a downward angle.

  5. Step 5

Draw the skin by starting at the bottom end of the top line you drew and make almost a half circle indent, ending at the next line below it. Continue doing this on each line so that the skin sags slightly like webbing.

  6. Step 6

Do this again for the other wing and you're done. Add any additional detail or coloring you want including scales, veins or even skin tears from battle injury.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can make the wings without joints, though he joints create a more open appearance.
