1
Sketch a simple halo in pencil above your angel's head. Keep the size of the halo in proportion with the angel's body; typically, the halo should be about the same width as the angel's head, but you can choose to emphasize or de-emphasize the halo in your image by changing its size in relation to the angel.

2
Make the halo look like a skinny, stretched-out circle, keeping the angle of the circle in line with the angle of the angel's body, so your perspective looks right. Basically, the tilt of the halo should be perpendicular to the tilt of the angel's head.

Add color to your halo. Usually angels' halos are gold, but if your drawing isn't traditional, you might want to use another color instead. While you might want your angel's halo to blend into the drawing, the halo is often an element that stands out from the rest of the image to emphasize the heavenly nature of the creature. Always think about the purpose of your drawing when you make artistic decisions.

Consider adding unique elements to your angel's halo. Some artists use leaves, flowers, birds, thorns, stars or simply a glowing light. Your drawing doesn't need to look or be traditional, so keep your purpose and your tone in mind and be creative with your angel's halo and all the aspects of your drawing.
