How to Renovate a Van for a Grocery Delivery Service

Grocery delivery has taken off as a service offered by many grocery stores. And at the same time, many entrepreneurial minds have begun offering their own grocery delivery services. All you need to start your own money-making grocery endeavor is a van equipped for the job.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove the seats from your van. The most important thing to have in your delivery service is space. You want to be able to supply all your customers with their goods without squashing bread under some seats and crushing the eggs. This will help keep your customers happy.

  2. Step 2

Remove the upholstery from the car. You will be building a system of shelves in order to accommodate all your orders and the carpeting will prevent you from being able to create proper supports. Most carpet can be removed by slipping a screwdriver under it and prying upward. This will pry apart the adhesive that keeps it on floor.

  3. Step 3

Measure the interior of your van and construct a series of racks to keep your groceries safe. Use 2-by-4-foot boards to construct shelving that will accommodate several boxes of food. It is a good idea to drill holes in the floor of your van and connect the boards to the frame of your van.

  4. Step 4

Organize a system where you can alphabetize all your customers' groceries. This will be important when you are trying to keep everyone's orders straight and to deliver them in once piece. Some companies use a basket system in order to separate the goods.

  5. Step 5

Make test runs with heavy objects that are not food before you begin using. Test runs will help make sure you don't have any gaps in the woodwork.
