How to Remove Malicious Bots From a Mac

Malicious bots are computerized programs that are installed onto your Mac computer without your knowledge. These programs use your Internet connections, email and the websites you visit to connect with your computer and install the software. Typically, they are used to watch what you are doing on the Internet for advertising purposes. However, sometimes they are used to give your computer a virus.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide if you want to pay for Mac bot-removal software. Some websites offer you free trial downloads to remove different bots from your system. But if you want to keep the removal downloads, you will have to pay money for them. Decide if the price is worth the removal of the bots.

Download bot removal software from Ware Seeker or another website that offers software for removing bots from a Mac computer. Some software there is freeware, which means it is free for users to download and use.

    • 3

Open the software for removing malicious bots on your Mac and click on the Scan button. A scan of your entire computer will ensue. The software is programmed to look for malicious bots on your Mac computer and will turn up a list of malicious bots that have rooted themselves on your Mac.

    • 4

Inspect the list of malicious bots that the software produced. Sometimes the bots that the software located are actually used to help run certain programs on your computer and their deletion can disable the software you want to use. The list of bots on the software may show you which programs run these bots. If you use the bots to run software like your music player or your photo editing software, you should not delete the bots.

    • 5

Click on the bots that are malicious on your Mac and then click "Delete" to remove them. The software will then automatically delete the bots from your Mac for good.
