"Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" is the newest game in the popular "Metal Gear Saga" and will likely be the last to feature Solid Snake (now known as Old Snake) as a main playable character. It takes place many years after the previous games with an older, bitter and ailing Snake trying to stop the latest version of the Metal Gear.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Pay special attention to your surroundings and look for places where you can perform special maneuvers. In most cases, if you move near an object or area with a special function, the game will prompt you to use the triangle button to execute a special action.
Step2
Push the analog stick just enough to walk and sneak up on enemy soldiers. Press "L1" when you are near them, and Snake will stick his gun in their back. You can then move around them and release "L1" which will make Snake rifle through their pockets for useful items. Push the triangle when prompted to take the item, then again to knock them out.
Step3
Practice your close quarters combat. There are a lot of options for hand-to-hand fighting, and you'll need all of them to make it through the missions. Look over your options in the manual and test them out as early as possible.
Step4
Look for button prompts in the corner of the screen. You can gain a lot of useful information through flashbacks and looking through Snake's eyes. When one of these comes up, the button you need to press will flash in the corner.
Step5
Watch for Psyche drops. Snake can lose Psyche even during cut scenes and flashbacks. If you're watching something and the Health/Psyche bar appears in the corner, push "X" as fast as you can and you may prevent the drop.

Tips & Warnings

  • Play the earlier games if you can get a hold of them. The "Metal Gear Solid" line builds on itself with every game, and there are many things that a new character will miss if this is their first game.
