Air travel is anything but smooth these days but with a little help, getting through airport security smoothly is easy. Preparation and knowing how what to wear goes a long way towards speeding your way through the airport security line.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have your passport or government ID in your hand or pocket. Security lines are long but can move quickly. Being prepared for the ID check is a good start.

  2. Step 2

Carry liquids in bottles smaller than 3 ounces. Any liquid in a bottle that is marked as originally containing more than 3 ounces is not acceptable, regardless of how much is in it.

  3. Step 3

Dress for the airport security line by wearing slip-on shoes including socks to keep bare feet from touching the dirty airport floor. Leave jewelry, belts and anything else that can trigger the metal detectors securely in your bag.

  4. Step 4

Remove your laptop as quickly as possible and place it in its own tray. Take out video game consoles as well and place them in a separate tray.

  5. Step 5

Pack neatly so TSA agents can search the bag as quickly as possible in the event of deeper screening. Organized bags also make identifying the bags contents easier from the scanning equipment to help keep from being searched.

  6. Step 6

Keep as little as possible in your pockets prior to screening. Place change, watches and other metal items into carry-on luggage before getting in line. Keep loose paper money in your pocket through the security process, as it will not set off the detectors.
