Step 1
Update your Yahoo! Messenger address book. You can enter contact information for each member of your messenger list. Single click on a contact to bring up the contact's contact card and then click on the double arrows in the bottom right corner. Enter the contact information.
-
Step 2
Determine stealth settings for each contact. Stealth settings allow you to determine how you'll appear to your contacts when you are online. You can appear online to some, while appearing offline to others. Right click the contact, choose "Stealth Settings" and choose the settings you want.
-
Step 3
Create groups. Groups are a way to organizing your contacts in your messenger list. Go to the "Contacts" menu, then to "Organize Messenger List" and choose "Create New Group." Enter a name for the group, such as "Work" or "Family" and hit "OK."
-
Step 4
Move your Yahoo! Messenger contacts into the appropriate groups in your messenger list. By default, all new contacts are added to the Friends group. To move contacts, click on them and drag them to the appropriate group.
-
Step 5
View your Yahoo! Messenger message archive. Yahoo Messenger automatically saves a copy of all messages you send and receive. To view this archive, choose "Message Archive" from the "Contacts" menu.
-
Step 6
Delete Yahoo! Messenger contacts. Messenger lists often get cluttered with people who no longer use the program. Delete these contacts by single clicking on the contact and choosing "Delete" from the "Contacts" menu.
