The Yahoo! Messenger contact card is a summary of a contact's information including his username, real name and Yahoo! avatar. It provides instant messaging, text messaging and PC to PC calling functionality as well as the ability to input special settings for each of your contacts. Learning to use the Yahoo! Messenger contact card gives you the ability to execute the main functions of Yahoo! Messenger.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the Yahoo! Messenger contact card. Hover your cursor over the contact or single click on the contact to display the card.

  2. Step 2

Begin an instant message dialog. Click on the contact's name, username or the chat bubble from the row of icons to begin the conversation.

  3. Step 3

Call the contact with a PC to PC call. If you have Yahoo! Messenger set up to make PC to PC calls, click on the telephone receiver icon to make a call.

  4. Step 4

Use the Yahoo! Messenger contact card to send text messages. Click on the cell phone icon, type your message and click send to deliver the message to your contact's cell phone. If your contact has not entered a mobile phone number, you will be asked to enter her number the first time.

  5. Step 5

Select on the letter icon to send your contact an email. An email to the contact opens in your default mail program. If your contact has not entered an email address, you're asked to provide the email address.

  6. Step 6

Click on the arrows in the bottom right corner of the contact card to see contact information for your contact. The contact's phone number, mobile phone number and email address display. Click on "Edit Contact Information" to change or add information.

  7. Step 7

Change your stealth settings for each Yahoo! Messenger contact. Stealth settings allow you to appear offline or online to contacts. Click on the menu in the lower left-hand corner of the contact card to set how you want to appear to your contact when you're online.
