Every year, gift givers look for the perfect item that is unique and cheap. The pop up Christmas tree card provides the perfect opportunity to do so. It takes a little time, but the result is a 3-D tree that you can decorate any way you want. The materials are inexpensive and easy to find. Just print out the template and you're ready to begin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Template
  • Two pieces of card stock or construction paper
  • Paper clip
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  1. Step 1

Go to the RobertSabuda website (see Resources) to find the template. Print the template for both the Christmas tree and backing page onto the construction paper or card stock.

  2. Step 2

Cut each page along the solid, black border of the card.

  3. Step 3

Fold the Christmas tree along the dotted lines, so that the picture is visible on the outside of the folded paper. Fold the backing page so that the ink is inside the folded paper.

  4. Step 4

Lay the folded paper flat. Use the rounded tip of a paperclip to score each dotted line. Press hard, but don't puncture the paper.

  5. Step 5

Cut along the solid, black lines that represent the branches of the tree.

  6. Step 6

Press each cut section flat against the card. The crease should be at the dotted line on the outside of the tree template. Fold each section back in place. They should be flat.

  7. Step 7

Open the card carefully, and push each cut flap through to the inside of the card. You have formed the pop-up Christmas tree.

  8. Step 8

Turn the Christmas over with the dotted lines facing up. Apply a thin layer of glue vertically along the right and left sides. Line the edges of the Christmas tree up with backing piece. Press the two cards together until flat. Let dry and decorate.
