Instructions

    • 1

Glue your cake dummies together to add height to your cake stand. Let's say that you are making a three-tier cupcake stand. This means you'll need to glue three two-inch cake dummies together twice so that you end up with two six-inch supports for your cupcake stand.

    • 2

Pin the ribbon to the bottom of each support that you've just made. (You'll do this once on each cupcake stand.)

    • 3

Wrap the ribbon around each support so that it overlaps just slightly each time you complete one rotation.

    • 4

Pin the ribbon to the top of the support once it has been completely covered with ribbon. An alternative to pinning the ribbon is to glue it on the supports. The upside is the ribbon will be more secure, the downside is you won't be able to redecorate the supports for another occasion.

    • 5

Trace each cake board on the wrapping paper you have chosen. Because you are building a three-tiered cupcake stand, this will occur three times. Once with each cake board.

    • 6

Cut out each circle you've made on the wrapping paper.

    • 7

Glue the wrapping paper to the top of each cake board.

    • 8

Build your cake stand for the cupcakes. To accomplish this, place the largest cake board on the bottom. Then glue one support directly in the center. Then place the medium sized cake board on the top of the first support. Follow that by gluing the next support on top of the cake board. Finish your cake stand by gluing the smallest cake board to the top of the second support.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the wrapping paper doesn't smear when it comes in contact with moisture. Not only will you have a messy cake stand, but the ink will get on the bottom of the cupcakes or cupcakes wrappers.
