The Snap to Rulers command in Microsoft Publisher 2007 will snap any object placed in the document to the nearest ruler increment. When it is turned on, this tool helps you line up and arrange objects within your Publisher document.

Things You'll Need

  • Microsoft Publisher 2007
Show More

Instructions

    • 1

Start Microsoft Publisher 2007 and open an existing document from your files that contains an object you would like to snap to rulers.

    • 2

Select the "Arrange" menu, point to "Snap" and choose "To Ruler Marks." A black check mark surrounded in an orange box will appear before "To Ruler Marks" to indicate that this option is turned on. Turning on this option causes the next object that is moved in the publication to "snap to" the ruler marks.

    • 3

Select the Select Objects tool from the Objects toolbar. This is the top button on the toolbar represented by a white mouse pointer.

    • 4

Click to select the object in the Publisher document that you want to move so it snaps to the ruler increments.

    • 5

Hold down the left mouse button on the object and move it to the new location.

    • 6

Release the mouse button and place the object. You will notice that the object will now move and "snap to" the nearest ruler increment.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't see the Objects toolbar in Microsoft Publisher 2007, you will need to display it by choosing the "View" menu, pointing to "Toolbars" and clicking on "Objects."
