How to use Nutritional Yeast for Soups
Nutritional yeast is a form of inactive yeast with a smell and flavor similar to a nutty cheese. Vegetarians use it often, as it contains many of the same nutritional elements as meat. For example, it is a complete protein with 18 amino acids, is full of B-vitamins and also if rich in trace minerals. Use nutritional yeast towards the end of the soup cooking process in order to preserve as many nutrients in the yeast as possible. Start with just 1 tbsp. of nutritional yeast, stir until combined and then taste for flavor and texture. Add more if you like.

Add just about 1 tsp. of nutritional yeast per 2 cups of soup if you are just looking to add a light flavor and boost of nutrition to your soups. This little amount proves plenty of nutrients and a subtle flavor without changing the texture of your soup.

Tips & Warnings
Keep nutritional yeast in a salt shaker so that each individual might add as much nutritional yeast as they like. Just make sure you add a spoonful of rice to the shaker to help keep the yeast dry.
