Think about a career that you will enjoy. Read as much as you can about your field of interest, shadow professionals in the field if possible. Keep in mind that you will advance over time, but you will likely remain in the same field for many years.

Focus on getting a good education. Investigate educational opportunities, including college, on-the-job training or distance learning courses.

Work for a company or organization where you can expect promotions and salary increases. In larger, more established companies, there may be more opportunities to advance more rapidly.
