The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) is a huge organization that operates more than 140 tracks across North America. They draw more than 35,000 members and their fans and families to local races and eight regional races annually. Major sponsorships for NHRA cars are always taken quickly, but contingency sponsorships are nearly always available.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Contact the NHRA through their website (see Resources). They can point you to a local chapter where you can go to watch a race and offer a contingency sponsorship to the contestants. You can read the list of other contingency sponsors on that same website, as well as rules for contingency sponsors.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your deal. Contingency sponsors offer the drivers a deal or free stuff for displaying your decals. You can make the deal as sweet as you like. For example, Aeroquip Hose and Fittings offers a 50 percent rebate to drivers who display their decal on the car.

  3. Step 3

Make sure your sponsored car follows the HNRA directions about displaying the decal for contingency sponsors. The rules are very clear. The decal must be able to be viewed from a 90-degree angle. Decals placed on the inside of panels or on the rear bumper are not considered legal and will be disallowed.

  4. Step 4

Consider bumping up your level of sponsorship to become and official sponsor. The advertising opportunities are much broader and you receive huge name recognition power among racing fans. Join the big leagues with other sponsors such as Coca-Cola, POWERade, Budweiser and the U.S. Army.
