How to mix Jalapeño Cornbread

Cornbread is a very popular type of bread that makes a great addition to any meals. It is especially good with dishes such as chili or other southwestern dishes. Cornbread is also good if you spice it up with some fresh jalapeño peppers. Jalapeño cornbread is a perfect way to spice up a Mexican lunch or dinner. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the cornbread according to the instructions on the box or according to your favorite recipe.

    • 2

Wash and chop a couple of jalapeño peppers. Remove the seeds. Make sure they are chopped finely. You can chop them bigger and more chunky if that is how you would like them in your cornbread. Remember that if you chop them too largely, you will take away from the cornbread taste.

    • 3

Mix the chopped jalapeños into the cornbread mix.

    • 4

Add a jalapeño slice on top of the cornbread to mark it as jalapeño cornbread. This is especially important if you are making another pan of non-jalapeño cornbread. This will let everyone know which cornbread is hot and spicy and which one is regular cornbread.

    • 5

Bake the jalapeño cornbread according to the cornbread box or recipe instructions.

    • 6

Cool the jalapeño cornbread for 20 to 30 minutes after it comes out of the oven to allow it to set properly.

    • 7

      Enjoy the jalapeño cornbread.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want extra spicy jalapeño cornbread, do not remove the seeds from the peppers when you are chopping them. The seeds are what make the jalapeño hot and spicy.

  • Add some shredded cheese to the cornbread mix or sprinkle on top of the mixture for an added taste.
