  1. Step 1

Buy everything you need for your Christmas dinner. Try to find some sales especially on canned goods and donate them to the church, your work or the Red Cross for the needy families that may not be able to afford the trimmings for their Christmas dinner.

  2. Step 2

Select extra coloring books, crayons and other small gifts that you can donate to needy families to help make their Christmas special for the little ones in the household. There are also gifts you can pick up--like stuffed animals--that won't take too much from your own pocket but will make some needy children a very nice present.

  3. Step 3

Contribute money to your church or work for the needy families in the area. If you are too busy to get something for those needy families, money is always an option. You may only be able to afford a dollar or two, but if every person gives that, every needy family will have a special Christmas.

  4. Step 4

Check within your own family, friends and neighbors to see if any of them are a needy family this Christmas. Many families go through rough times and when that rough time comes at Christmas and there are children in the household, it is difficult to find the means to make a special Christmas. Therefore, it is up to their family, friends and neighbors to make it special for them. You can invite them to share your Christmas and arrange some presents for the children or you can deliver presents and dinner to them, sneakily, so they can believe in Santa Claus again. Alternatively, you can let the church or local charities know that they could use some help this Christmas and they will deliver the dinner and presents to them.

  5. Step 5

Involve everyone in this quest to help needy families have a special Christmas. Children may pick out one of their gifts to give to the children in needy families or instead of buying gifts for you, they could buy gifts for the other families.

  6. Step 6

Use that free Christmas turkey and donate it to a needy family. Most grocery stores offer a free turkey when you spend a certain amount of money. Take advantage of this by getting the turkey and donating it to a needy family who can't afford it. If you have a big family yourself, you may be able to donate more than one.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you aren't in a position to help needy families yourself, organize a fundraiser and use the money raised, to help needy families. Alternatively, you can talk to your family and friends to raise the necessary funds or to donate the necessary items needed for needy families to have that special Christmas.
