How to Plan a Trip to the Zoo
Children love the zoo, but adults can find them entertaining, too. Zoo visitors may have favorites, such as the monkeys, tigers or giraffes, but many also like to see the different kinds of animals each zoo features. Next time you're visiting a new place, or if you haven't visited your local zoo recently, plan a trip to the zoo, and see what you've been missing.

1
Pick a clear day, but not one that is too hot. Although there are shady areas provided in the zoo, you won't find air conditioning. Make sure you bring bug spray and sunscreen for yourself and others in your party.
-
2
Locate the zoo in your area, and find out the cost. Also, note if you can bring food with you into the zoo. If you can, make a picnic hamper so you will have plenty for everyone to eat while visiting with the animals. If you aren't, eat first, so you don't have to pay extra money for food while you are visiting.

3
Talk to your school about making an outing for the elementary school children to visit the zoo. Volunteer to go along as a chaperon. This way, you will get to visit the zoo and get a reduced price.
-
4
Get together with other families and treat yourself to a day at the zoo. Many zoos have rides that will take you over the zoo so you can see where each of the animals live. Plan on trying a couple of these so you can get the lay of the land and see the animals that each of you want to see in less time than if you were just wandering on your own.
-
5
Check out the animals at the other zoos when you are traveling. If you have a free morning or afternoon in your agenda when traveling, check out the local zoo. You won't be sorry.
