How to Fix Torn Jeans
Torn and ripped jeans were once cool among kids, but fads go out of style. School dress codes probably won't allow students to get away with wearing them anymore, so you should find a way to fix up your kids' torn jeans. Inspect the tear before deciding which way to go. The larger the rip, the more work you'll need to do. The more you wear and wash them, the larger the rip will get.

Put duct tape on the inside of the rip for a quick fix. This works especially well if you still want the "torn jeans" look. You will need to replace the tape after washing, however.

Stitch up the rip if you want it completely fixed. Basically, you'll need to sew in a double criss-crossed pattern, and probably more than once. If you aren't good at sewing, take your jeans to a professional seamstress.

Sew a patch over the rip if it's too large to stitch up. You could do it on the inside to keep the "ripped jeans" look. Ironing a patch on the inside of whole jeans can prevent rips, too.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid iron-on patches to repair rips. To ensure your repairs last a long time, be sure you stitch your patches.
If the jeans are ripped beyond repair, just cut the legs off and turn them into shorts.
If the tear goes from one side of the leg to the opposite one, you probably can't fix it.
