If you wish to lighten your hair naturally, you probably already have the ingredients in your kitchen. Hair lightening produces different results for different people depending on your hair color and condition. This method of hair lightening works best on light brown or blond hair.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sauce pan
  • Water
  • Chamomile tea bags
  • Parsley
  • Lemon juice
  1. Step 1

Put 2 cups of water into a sauce pan. Add 2 chamomile tea bags, 1 tbsp. parsley and 1 tbsp. lemon juice.

  2. Step 2

Bring the mixture to a boil and then lower the temperature on the burner to simmer. Put a lid on the pan and allow the mixture to simmer for 15 to 30 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Strain out the parsley and the tea bags and then let the solution sit until it cools to room temperature. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle if you want to spritz it onto your hair.

  4. Step 4

Spray your hair with the mixture or stand by the sink, hang your head over the sink, and pour the solution onto your hair. Use your fingers or a comb to work the solution through your hair. Be sure to saturate your entire head of hair from roots to ends.

  5. Step 5

Sit in the sun and allow your hair to dry, if you want a more dramatic lightening. The sun helps the solution to do its job. You can also blow dry your hair instead of sitting in the sun to speed up the lightening process.

  6. Step 6

Wait a few minutes before rinsing the solution out of your hair if you are only looking for a slight lightening and do not want to leave it in until your hair dries.

  7. Step 7

Repeat the process using the same mix of ingredients every day or two until you get the desired effects. The more times you repeat the lightening process, the lighter your hair becomes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Test the lightening solution on a small amount of your hair that is easy to hide, before doing your entire head, in case you do not like the results.
  • You can make this hair lightening mixture without the parsley if you wish. However the parsley works as a natural toner to eliminate brassy highlights.
  • Not only does this mixture lighten your hair, but it leaves your hair soft and smelling great.
  • Be careful using it if your hair is dark brown or black--you could end up with orange hair.
