Look at resumes of other cosmetologists to get an idea of what to include in yours. There are some examples of cosmetology resumes that you can look at online to give you ideas of what to include. Start off with what your career objectives are. If you want to work on TV or movies, own your beauty shop or whatever other career goals you have, then list those to begin with.

List all of your cosmetology experience including names of salons you've worked at and the dates you worked there. Give brief descriptions of each job including your abilities with customer service, along with what cosmetology services you performed. Mention where you received your education and what degrees or certificates you've received from beauty schools and cosmetology seminars. Mention some personal information about yourself that is relevant to your job such as hobbies, related business skills or if you're able to speak in more than one language.

Proofread your resume before sending it out. Create a cover letter that you can send along with your resume and check it for any typos or grammar problems. Finish by including your contact information such as your mailing address, email address and phone number.
