Instructions

    • 1

Apply tape to the door handles and the hinges, and lay down a drop cloth to protect the floor.

    • 2

Use yellow ocher as a base coat when you paint a door to look like wood. Apply it evenly, and keep it from dropping as you do so.

    • 3

Mix 1/8 cup of water with ½ cup of faux glaze in one of the containers. Add 1 tbsp. of burnt umber to the mix. You may add more color if you add it to the door and think it's too light.

    • 4

Put paint to your brush, then drag it across the door, starting in the inserts and then moving on to the panels of the door. Catch any drips with your brush. The paint is highlighting the "wood grain" in the metal door.

    • 5

Pick burnt sienna as a base if you wish to make your metal door look as though it's made of mahogany.
