The yoga salutation seal, also known as the heart seal, is a resting or meditative pose that helps to calm the mind, reduce anxiety and stress and improve the flow of energy through your entire body while opening the heart chakra. Performing the salutation seal with a partner can help to increase the energy created in the pose, and bring you and your partner closer together.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sit in a comfortable cross legged posture facing your yoga partner. Allow your knees to touch gently. Inhale deeply and bring your palms together, resting your thumbs lightly on the lower sternum.

  2. Step 2

Be aware of your palms pressing together from fingertips to the base of your palm. While you should actively press the palms together, make sure that your dominant hand does not push harder than the non-dominant hand.

  3. Step 3

Close your eyes and drop your head slightly into a bow and lift tall through your spine. Once you are comfortable in the pose, extend your hands in front of your, centered between your heart and your partner's heart. Allow your partner to place his hands directly over yours, and breathe deeply together into the salutation seal.

  4. Step 4

Hold the pose together for 2 or 3 minutes and then alternate hand positions, this time with your hands on top. Again, breathe and meditate in the salutation seal, feeling each other's energy, for another 2 or 3 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you find that sitting in a cross legged position is uncomfortable for longer periods of time, sit on a yoga block, which will reduce the stress on your lower back.
