The yoga lion pose is a unique posture that focuses on the strength and flexibility of the muscles of the face and neck, helping to firm the facial muscles for a more youthful appearance. However, the yoga lion pose is traditionally performed in a kneeling position which can be quite challenging for those with knee injuries. Instead of kneeling, pull up a chair for this yoga pose.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sit on the very edge of a chair to perform the yoga lion pose. Make sure that your spine is lifted tall and straight, your legs are together and that your feet are planted firmly on the ground. Rest your palms face down on your thighs and relax your facial muscles.

  2. Step 2

Inhale deeply and as you exhale, lean forward, cupping your knees in your hands and spreading your fingers open wide. In the same motion, push your chin forward, open your eyes and mouth wide and stick out your tongue.

  3. Step 3

Roar like a lion as you lean forward into your exhalation, feeling every muscles of your face working into the pose. At the end of your exhalation, relax back to your beginning position with your eyes closed and facial muscles relaxed.

  4. Step 4

Exhale and repeat your lion's roar. Complete three to six exhalations in the lion pose and then relax to sitting. Performing these exercises every day will yield fast results, helping to firm the skin of the face, tone the muscles and giving you a more youthful appearance.
