1
Sterilize a glass canning jar and metal lid by boiling it for 5 or 10 minutes in water. Carefully remove the jar and the lid and leave upside down to drain. The size of jar you choose will depend on how much baby oil you use, but keep in mind the oils require about 7 weeks to finish and you must use them within 10 to 12 months.

2
Fill your sterilized jar half way with an even mixture of certified organic chamomile and calendula flowers. Fill the jar 1 inch from the top with extra virgin, cold pressed olive oil and then cover the top of the jar with plastic wrap. Screw the jar lid in place over the plastic.

Calculate two dates and write them on the jar's lid with a magic marker. The first date should be 7 weeks from today's date and marks the date your oil is ready to strain and use. The second date should be 10 months from today's date, and marks the time that the oil may be going bad. Try to use the oil as near to this date as possible.

4
Keep the oil in a cool, dark location and then use a fine piece of cheesecloth to strain the flowers from the oil once you reach the first date on the jar. It may take several strainings to remove all of the fine particles. Boil the jar once more and then return the oil to the jar.

Place a small amount of oil into a separate sterilized container if you would like to keep your oil at room temperature; however, store the bulk of your baby oil in the refrigerator to extend the shelf life. Use the oil sparingly after a diaper change, on irritated skin, after a bath or any time for both baby and mom.
