Things You'll Need:
- Remote starter kit
- Wire cutters
- T-taps
- Silicon caulk
-
Step 1
Plan the route from the alarm power supply to the ignition. Remove any molding or parts that hinder access and identify areas to secure the wire. Disconnect the battery power by removing the negative terminal.
-
Step 2
Run and secure the wire through the frame and panels of the motorcycle. Wire must not be run along hot areas. Secure the wire with tie straps.
-
Step 3
Identify the correct wires to tap in the manufacturer's documentation. Strip the ends of the wire and solder the connections by fanning out the wire and then twisting them together. Wire caps are an acceptable alternative as the silicon gel seals the caps. Wrap the bare ends or caps with electrical tape.
-
Step 4
Tap the ignition wires using t-taps per the manufacturer's directions. Connect any ground wires and verify the t-taps made a solid connection.
-
Step 5
Program the alarm module to operate the auxiliary wire for the remote. Set simple slide switches to on or use the programming port and software to assign the auxiliary.
-
Step 6
Hook the negative cable back onto the battery terminal and place the bike into neutral. Engage the remote to verify it's working and the starter is disengaging properly.
