Step 1
Use an epoxy grout when grouting the glass for a mosaic backsplash. Epoxy grout seals well, and can save you the step of sealing the backsplash afterward.
-
Step 2
Mix the grout, making sure you make a little more than you anticipate needing. Because grout cures quickly, it's better to have too much to work with than be stuck with a partially finished mosaic.
-
Step 3
Put in a cup and a half of grout, or more depending on the area you are grouting when you make a glass mosaic, then add enough water until you create a "very thick paste" that is similar to peanut better in consistency.
-
Step 4
Allow the grout to sit for 10 minutes , after you mixed it thoroughly.
-
Step 5
Wear a dust mask and don rubber gloves when you apply the grout to your glass mosaic backsplash.
-
Step 6
Take a handful of grout, and mash it thoroughly into the spaces between the glass tiles of you backsplash mosaic. Rub the grout in a circular motion, and do not stop applying the grout until you are certain you have filled every crack.
-
Step 7
Wait 5 or 10 minutes, then dip a sponge into a bucket of clear water, wring it out until it's nearly dry, and rub the sponge over the mosaic until you have removed any excess grout. Wait 5 more minutes then repeat the process, until the grout is almost completely dry. Then take a rag and work hard, rubbing the glass tiles of the mosaic backsplash until they are clearly revealed and without any grout on them. Work on exposing the corners of the glass in the mosaic backsplash, then use a sharpened chop stick to rub off any glass that remain on the glass's surface.
