Getting rid of heavy machinery is not an easy task. You can't just go to eBay and post an ad. You need a heavy equipment trader who acts as an intermediary to help you sell, buy or trade your used equipment.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Go online to Machinery Trader or Equipment Trader. These two sites offer a place in which to buy, sell or trade heavy equipment. These sites also offer information about auctions, dealers and accessories.
Step2
Consult the North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA). They can provide a list of dealers/traders who have met certain educational and professional standards to be able to obtain membership. Thus, NAEDA members will be knowledgeable in their field.
Step3
Visit local equipment auction houses, especially on auction night. Traders frequent auctions to fill their inventories, and auctions are often a cheap and easy way to do so. Auction house personnel can help spot the traders who are regulars and therefore are well known to the staff.
Step4
Talk to equipment mechanics. The people who fix the heavy equipment are often just as knowledgeable about the dealers and traders of the equipment. They can provide you with a short list to help you in your search.
