If you plan to dress up for Mardi Gras this year, then you're probably going to be shocked by the cost of the costumes and masks. Since Mardi Gras costumes are typically opulent, you may want to rent your costumes instead of purchasing pieces you may never wear again.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on the type of Mardi Gras costume you wish to rent. Popular choices include jester costumes, clowns, Mardi Gras party dresses and feathered masks with capes.

  2. Step 2

Contact a costume rental shop. Check out the selection of Mardi Gras costumes and masks for rent from Fantasy Costume and the Mardi Gras Costume Shop.

  3. Step 3

Choose your size and place your order online. You'll have to give your billing information before the order is processed. Read the rental agreement before placing your order to see if you want to purchase the insurance.

  4. Step 4

Sign a rental contract and receive the costume. You're typically provided with a 3-day or longer period to keep the costume. After this period, you mail back the Mardi Gras costume or mask.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that you're responsible for any damage to the costume if you didn't purchase the insurance policy on the costume.
  • You may need to put down a security deposit when renting a Mardi Gras costume. The company will keep the deposit if you lose or damage the mask or costume.
