How to Make Molasses Dog Treats

When you make molasses dog treats for your best friend, they'll smell so good that you'll want to have a taste, too. You can if you like, because you make them with only natural, healthy ingredients.

  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • Wooden spoon
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutter or paring knife
  • Oiled baking sheet

Instructions

      Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

      Place 1/2 cup of molasses, 2 tbsp. of honey, 1/2 cup of water and 1/4 cup of olive oil in a mixing bowl.

      Combine 3 cups of all purpose flour, 1/4 cup of oat bran, 1 tsp. baking soda and 2 tsp. of ground ginger in a separate mixing bowl. Mix the dry ingredients into the molasses mixture with a wooden spoon.

      Place the dough on a floured surface and roll it to 1/4 inch thickness with a rolling pin.

      Cut the dough into shapes with a cookie cutter or a paring knife, and put them on an oiled baking sheet.

      Bake the molasses dog treats for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they turn brown around the edges.

      Remove the molasses dog treats from the oven and put them on a wire rack to cool and harden. Store the treats in an airtight container. They will keep longer if your store them in the refrigerator.
