How to Get a USDA Home Improvement Grant

Instructions

    • 1

Determine if you are eligible for the grant by proving you have tried to obtain credit loans at a bank and have been turned away due to bad or poor credit scores and/or you have been deemed unable to repay a Section 504 loan, the government loan for housing improvement. You also much be 62 years of age or older to qualify.

    • 2

Apply for the grant and write your improvements on the application. Choose to make your home more safe or sanitary or to remove health concerns.

    • 3

Maintain the building codes for adding any improvements to your home.

    • 4

Contact your local USDA rural development office for a form and help in submitting for approval. A decision should come back to you within 30 to 60 days.
