Once you have created and installed your concrete counter top and polished the top, you need to polish the edges. For obvious reasons, polishing the edges are more challenging, thanks to its smaller surface and the angle. With this article, you will learn how to get the polished edge you desire.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put a flexible backer pad on your polisher if you have radius edges on your concrete counter top. The flexible pad will move around the curves of the counter top without creating any unwanted lines.

  2. Step 2

Use a rigid backer if you have flat edges on the concrete counter top when polishing it. Move the polisher to the left then to the right, being careful to keep the polisher flat. If you move the polisher in a circular fashion, you will make the edges wavy.

  3. Step 3

Keep one hand on the top of the polisher as you polish the edges of the concrete counter top as this will help to keep the weight of the polisher even.

  4. Step 4

Take your time when you polish the edge of the concrete counter top. The possibility of scoring unwanted and blemishing lines increases the moment that you allow the polisher to tilt, or vary from the side to side movements when polishing.
