Step 1
Determine the size of your pond in gallons. Ozonators are rated to treat certain sizes of ponds by the amount of gallons they hold.

Be sure you check the voltage rating of the ozonator. It will be either 120 volts or 240 volts. You may need to have a 240-volt line installed if you choose that ozonator, which will increase installation cost.

Decide if you want the ozonator to do all the work or if you want to install a filtering system as well. The setup will determine the type and size of ozonator you need. In one setup, a small ozonator added to a filter system simply responds to pollution peaks to keep water quality at a premium.
