How to Change Symbol Properties in Fireworks
Fireworks is an excellent software platform for creating and altering images or symbols, which can dramatically enhance any type of media. When you create or alter these symbols, you often need to make changes to the properties of these files. To accomplish this change of symbol properties in Fireworks, you only need to follow a few relatively easy procedures.

Open the Fireworks software program. First, go to your main operating system menu and locate the "Start" button. Press this button and find the link on your start menu that says either "Programs" or "All Programs." From there, select "Macromedia" or "Adobe" from the programs menu, depending on which version of the software you are using. Finally, click on "Fireworks" to open the software program.

Locate and open the Fireworks symbol file on the hard drive that you want to change. Select "File" from the main menu and choose "Open" from the file. Then, search the hard drive for the symbol, select the file and click "Open."

Select the "Layers" option from the left menu panel. Then, click on the symbol to highlight the file.

Find the properties option on the bottom of the image palette and click on "Properties" to expand the menu panel. Then, type in any changes to the symbol properties in Fireworks you wish to amend or alter. If this option is available on your version, you can select "Modify" from the main Fireworks menu, choose "Symbol" and finally "Edit symbol" to change the symbol properties in Fireworks.
