Step 1
Place your bed properly in the bedroom. You have several options here. You can either set your bed up so it juts out from the center of one of the bedroom walls, or you can place the bed in a corner of the bedroom at a forty-five degree angle. The set up you choose will depend on the size of your bedroom and on the look you wish to achieve. However, both arrangements can help make the bed the focal point of your bedroom.

Step 2
Choose a bed with a headboard. A decorative or elaborate headboard will make your bed the focal point. Even a simple yet elegant headboard can help focus the eye onto the bed. If your bed doesn't have a headboard, you may want to make a headboard. Using fabric that matches your bedspread or comforter, plywood and cotton batting, you can create a simple upholstered headboard for your bed. You could even opt for a contrasting fabric, use suede or a leather-like fabric for a different look. All the while, you're creating the central theme and focus of your bedroom décor.

Step 3
Use other bedroom furniture to make the bed the focal point of the bedroom. An end table placed on either side of the bed will give your bed more weight and make it serve as the room's focal point. Table lamps placed on these end tables can further help the bed serve as the central focal point of the bedroom.

Step 4
Take advantage of the wall behind your bed to help make your bed the focal point. If you have the headboard of your bed flush against a wall, consider hanging artwork on that wall directly above the bed. You may use a grouping of smaller paintings or hand a wide piece of artwork above the bed, which will automatically draw the eye into the area of the bed making the bed.

Step 5
Remember the bed linens. Use nice sheets and a decorative comforter, quilt or blanket on your bed. Decorative throw pillows such as bolsters and shams arranged neatly on the bed can also help make the bed the focal point. Keep the bed made when not in use so it looks neat and tasteful.
