Things You'll Need:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Wiring harness adaptor
-
Step 1
Write down the radio security code for the original stereo and store it in a safe place. Disconnect the negative cable from the car battery.
-
Step 2
Remove the center console by uncovering the two screws under the plastic door at the bottom of the armrest. Slide back the console and remove the cup holder. Remove the three screws underneath the drink holder.
-
Step 3
Find the two hidden screws behind the shifter trim and remove them. Pull the ashtray out of the dash and remove the screw at the back of the opening.
-
Step 4
Lift up the panel trim that wraps around the radio by pulling up from behind the gearshift. Unsnap the trim from the top, where it meets the dash and remove the entire trim piece.
-
Step 5
Unscrew the metal securing tray on the dash, just below the head unit and pull the entire Accord stereo assembly out of the dash. Unhook the wire bundle and set the radio aside.
-
Step 6
Connect the new head unit by plugging in the adaptor wire harness into the original harness. Snap the adaptor into the back of the new stereo and slide the assembly into the dash.
-
Step 7
Test the new stereo head unit to ensure it is working properly before securing it in place with the metal security tray. Replace all of the trim pieces and enjoy the new, improved sound in your Honda Accord.
