Use the below formula to calculate your daily caloric needs. This formula will help you determine how many calories you should eat to MAINTAIN your current weight. If weight LOSS is your goal, you should subtract from this number!
Women: 655 + (4.3 x weight in pounds)
Men: 66 + (6.3 x weight in pounds)

Women: Total from above + (4.7 x height in inches)
Men: Total from above + (12.9 x height in inches)

Women: Total from above - (4.7 x age in years) = BMR
Men: Total from above - (4.7 x age in years) = BMR

Next, for both sexes, you will take a certain percentage of your BMR and add it to the above total ... ?% BMR + BMR
20% if you're sedentary, 30% if you're slightly active, 40% if you're moderately active, 50% if you're very active, and 60% if you're an athlete.
Let's suppose your BMR total from above is 1500...You will then take, let's say, 30% of that number and add it to 1500, like so;
30% of 1500 = 450 (450 + 1500) = 1950 ... This "example person" needs 1950 calories per day to MAINTAIN their current weight.
To lose weight, this peron would need to consume fewer than 1950 calories per day.
And there you have it!
