Summer's half over, have you had your vacation yet? So, what are you waiting for?! An endless choice of vacation packages & discounts await you, whether you're thinking of the exotic tropics or a quaint country village. Here are some steps you can take to finding those killer deals!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet Access or contacting your local travel agency.
  1. Step 1

Check out www.budgettravel.com or their Budget Travel Magazine for packages and/or discounts for cruise lines, air lines, local travel, and more. Sometimes a package is for an all-inclusive resort which means your stay may also include one spa treatment, deep-sea diving lessons, or swimming with dolphins. (Also check www.vacation-packages.priceline.com/vacations)

  2. Step 2

For overseas travel, check out the following sites for their special offers:
    www.FamilyAdventures.com
    www.goaheadtours.com
    www.EuroCheap.com

  3. Step 3

For a trip to the Tropics, check these sites:
www.TropicalIslandvacation.com (this one is highly recommended by Travel Channel & NBC)
    www.tropicalsands.com

  4. Step 4

Last but not least, another important issue to consider is Travel Insurance. This covers cancelled flights, lost luggage, a plane crash that results in death (money would go to family), and other travel mishaps. Your local travel agency or AAA can provide more detailed & current information on choosing Travel Insurance.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you're making plans last minute or ahead of time, remember that for many locations, their rates will be significantly lower if you vacation during the shoulder (basically, before Memorial Day, after Labor Day) or off-season.
  • If you make plans in advance, make sure the rates haven't increased unless you were able to lock in on a rate when you made reservations.
