Find Scrap Gold
Find Scrap Gold

One way to get some quick money is to cash in your scrap gold. Most people don't even realize they have scrap gold, or that there are ways to obtain some for free or at a low price. Scrap gold can be sold for ready cash.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look in your Jewelry Box. I was surprised at what I found in my jewelry box. Over the years people had given me gold earrings, and sometimes I’d lose one of the pair. I had several lone earrings. I also had broken rings, where the settings had long since been removed, and several twisted gold bracelets, beyond repair. What I thought was junk, totaled over $800.

  2. Step 2

Go to garage sales. You never know what you will find at a garage sale. That same type of “junk” I found in my jewelry box may be on sale at the yard sale down the street.

  3. Step 3

Use a metal detector. If you have a metal detector, visit the beach or parks after a holiday. It is amazing what you might find.

  4. Step 4

Try some gold panning. It’s how it used to be done, the old fashioned way. (Although I don’t believe it would be called “scrap” gold). According to mining experts, there is still gold in them thar hills!

Tips & Warnings
  • Some old gold items might bring in more money by selling the individual pieces, as opposed to being scrapped.
