The summer can bring the hottest days that lead to the hottest nights that make it almost impossible to sleep. Here are some tips on how to sleep cool, even when the night is hot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a cold shower. Not warm, but cold. It will cool you off and keep you cool enough for you to fall asleep. If you wake up in the middle of the night, then jump back into the shower again and cool off.

  2. Step 2

Take a shallow pan and fill it with ice and place it directly in front of your fan. The air going over the ice will be cool and should last long enough until you can go to sleep.

  3. Step 3

Wet a wash cloth and keep a bowl of water with lots of ice by your bed. Dip the wash cloth into the bowl and put it over your forehead and face. You can use several wash cloths, if you like and put them all over you.

  4. Step 4

Do the above and have the fan blowing over you, too.

  5. Step 5

Situate your fan so that the back sits in your window sill so that the outside air is coming inside.

  6. Step 6

Stick your socks into the freezer and then put them on and have the fan blow over your feet.

  7. Step 7

If possible, take an inflatable mattress and sleep outside.

  8. Step 8

Take an oversized shirt and wet it down. Spraying it with a bottle full of water is another way to do it. Wear the shirt and it should help keep you cool for several hours.

  9. Step 9

Buy a bed fan for about $90.00 at bedfan.com. It is a small fan that attaches to a bed. The fans sits close to the floor and it blows air underneath the bed and up into the sheets.
